dadson.jpgWelcome to the Tennessee NWTF Website...

When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were only 1.3 million wild turkeys throughout North America. Since then, the number of wild turkeys has increased to more than 7 million birds thanks to state, federal and provincial wildlife agencies, the NWTF, its members and partners.

The NWTF, headquartered in Edgefield, S.C., is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation and education organization dedicated to conserving wild turkeys and preserving hunting traditions. Growth and progress define the NWTF as it has expanded from 1,300 members in 1973 to 545,500 today.

With that growth has come impressive strides in wildlife management as the NWTF has forged dynamic partnerships across the country. Together, the NWTF's conservation partners and grassroots members have raised and spent more than $230 million upholding hunting traditions and conserving more than 11.3 million acres of wildlife habitat.

NWTF Canada
Since 1996, NWTF Canada has been plotting the map with turkey releases, fundraising banquets and local chapters. With more than 6,000 members across Canada, the NWTF is making strides to fulfill its mission.

NWTF Mexico
The NWTF is spreading its wings beyond the border of the United States, recently adding a chapter in Mexico. The event makes Mexico the third country in which NWTF is represented through chapter involvement.

Welcome!!!

The Tennessee Members of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) invite you to join us and take some time to learn about the NWTF in Tennessee. Please feel free to browse through our State NWTF Website. Come see the great things our volunteers are doing and have done towards the restoration of Tennessee’s greatest outdoor natural resource – The Eastern Wild Turkey.

Our state currently ranks 11th in the nation for total membership. We have over 10,000 members in our state. We are proven conservation leaders with many accolades being bestowed on our organization and volunteers. Since 1985, over 1.6 million dollars have been raised by our local TN chapters and reinvested into our local communities. Tennessee leads the nation in contributions to land purchases for hunting lands and have set precedence by work done on the Cherokee National Forest. Our organization and members have won many awards. Our accolades include winners of the Grand National Calling Competitions, Wheelin’ Sportsmen NWTF Member of the Year, Roger Latham Award Winner, Conservation Educator of the Year, National Jakes Event of the Year, as well as Conservation Organization of the Year presented by the Wildlife Federation in 2007.

Our Tennessee State website’s goal is to be an informative link tying together our NWTF Regional staff, state board, local membership, wildlife agency and our visitors. Hopefully this will help better educate each of our visitors of the importance of the National Wild Turkey Federation and how its Tennessee members play in the conservation and restoration of the Wild Turkey in Tennessee.

Thank you for visiting,
